Vapor Trails was the seventeenth studio album by Rush, released six years after Test for Echo.
It was the first album since Caress of Steel to have no synthesizers at all.
Due to a loudness war at the time of original release, the album sounded scratchy and bumpy. Dissatisfied with the mix, it was remixed and re-released as Vapor Trails Remixed in 2013.
